All the above are available with a “voice chip” if you wish the
keypad to talk to you.

PORTABLE CONTROLLERS
These handy devices, known as “keyfobs”, fit on your keychain. They can arm or disarm your alarm system, turn on lights, and serve as a panic button to summon Citadel’s Central Monitoring Station to send help. They offer confidence for females for the time span between exiting a parked car, to arriving at the front door.
PERIMETER VS INTERIOR PROTECTION
Perimeter protection involves installing sensors on individual doors and windows of the house. Interior protection involves motion detectors located inside the house.
A couple of well placed motion detectors can provide coverage to a lot of floor space.
Interior motion detectors were designed to be the second line of defense to the perimeter protection. If the perimeter is not protected, the motion detector vaults from second to the primary line of defense.
Since our company logo is a “Castle”, let us draw a medieval analogy. Long ago, moats were built around the castle. It was better to repel intruders at the perimeter, rather than confront them after they have scaled the walls and are already inside. If personal safety is important to you, a perimeter alarm system is the one for you.
HARDWIRE VS WIRELESS
Information from alarm sensors must be conveyed to the alarm control panel. With a hardwired system, that information is connected by a piece of wire “fished” inside the walls. With a wireless system, a wireless transmitter relays that information to the control panel.
Wireless transmitters contain a disposable battery that must be changed sometime between 5 and 10 years into the future, depending on which transmitter is used. The keypad will display a low battery condition when the battery needs to be changed.
The alarm control panel can accept any combination of wireless or hardwired sensor inputs. Hardwired sensors do not need any battery changes.
VENTILATION OF PROTECTED WINDOWS
If you are a “fresh air person”, you probably like to sleep with the bedroom window open when the weather permits. Is it possible to sleep with the window partially opened and still be protected? By installing a second magnet on the movable sash, the alarm sensor will recognize an alternate “ok” position. The window will be protected in either the closed or the 6 inch open protection, but will preclude an intruder opening it further.
For casement windows that rotate outward, a second magnet position is not possible. To allow fresh air flow through a casement window and still have the window protected, custom-made alarm screens is the answer. By retrofitting a fine wire laced within the screen fabric, cutting the fabric or removing the screen will result in an alarm condition.
PET IMMUNE MOTION DETECTORS
Motion detectors can discriminate between a person and a small pet. If the pet is 40 pounds or less, your pet can roam freely around the house with the motion detector actively part of the armed alarm system.
ASSET MOVEMENT DEVICE
Pet immune motion detectors cannot be used if you have a large dog or multiple cats. If you would like large dogs or multiple cats to roam freely with your alarm system armed, asset movement devices are a perfect fit.
Asset movement devices are wireless attachments to paintings, works of art, jewelry boxes, or plasma HDTV’s that detect their movement. They work on the principle of inertia. If the object is moved, the wireless sensor attachment activates the alarm. These asset movement devices can be programmed to be always on, if the object is never expected to be moved. These events can also be text alerted to you and a video clip of the event can be sent also. (See Total Connect)
